Professional teeth whitening can be an effective way to help remove stains, brighten your smile, and boost your self-confidence. Here we look at how the professional teeth whitening process works at Dr. Sophie's Surrey and Langley dental clinics.
While teeth will naturally darken with age, a number of different foods and beverages can also cause your teeth to stain or discolour. Professional teeth whitening is a non-invasive treatment that can quickly help to restore brilliance to your smile.
Teeth Whitening Treatments From Your Dentist
Dr. Sophie's team of dental professionals offers patients custom teeth whitening systems to help remove stains and whiten teeth in the comfort of their own home.
Teeth whitening treatments from our Surrey and Langley dentists begin with two brief appointments:
- On your first appointment we will take impressions (molds) of your teeth so that we can create custom whitening trays that will fit your smile snuggly.
- When you visit us for your second appointment you will be provided with your custom whitening trays, the professional strength whitening solution, and instructions on how to use the whitening treatment in order to achieve the best results.
How You Can Whiten Your Teeth In The Comfort of Your Home
Your custom whitening trays will be lightweight, and easy to use. Instructions for use can differ somewhat between dentists however, your dentist will be sure to provide you with specific instructions for your whitening treatment.
In most cases most patients are instructed to wear the trays with the whitening solution either twice a day for 30 minutes or overnight for a couple of weeks depending on the degree of staining and desired level of whitening you want to achieve.
Treatments typically take between 10-14 days to achieve the desired level of whiteness. If you aren't sure how white is white enough, speak to your dentist for advice.
After you have completed your treatment be sure to hang on to your whitening trays so that you will have them ready for next time. When you feel it's time for a touch-up, simply contact our office to order more of the whitening solution.
Note: It is normal to experience tooth sensitivity during the time you are whitening your teeth, but it should subside shortly after you have completed your treatment. If you are experiencing side-effects from professional teeth whitening, contact our office for advice.
